The Senior Regulatory Permitting Specialist’s responsibilities will include preparation and processing of permit applications; permit maintenance; representing clients in meetings and phone calls with regulatory permitting agencies; developing and negotiating mitigation strategies; tracking schedules and budgets; interfacing with biologists, GIS specialists and other environmental technical experts with a focus on biological studies and permit processing; and managing project contracts. The position will also require business development, preparation of proposals and related marketing support, and management of multidisciplinary teams of biologists and other consultants. Production of high-quality work products and excellent client service are mandatory. This position will be expected to work with the Early Engagement business line related to engagement practices and the duty to consult in addition to ESG reporting for clients externally and within Axiom’s operations.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), preferably in environmental science, biology, or related field.
- Five or more years experience in the federal and provincial permitting processes or resources project management.
- Expert-level knowledge of Regulations about Exploration/Mining in Canada.
- Extensive knowledge and application of stakeholder/rights holder/beneficiary’s engagement processes.
- Experience with Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Land Use Studies.
- Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
- Strong client and agency relationships.
- Understanding or experience working with Traditional Knowledge holders, Rightsholders and community.
- Experience with early engagement and/or duty to consult processes along the exploration life cycle.
- Understanding of ESG-related reporting requirements, specifically Scopes 1, 2, and 3.
- Experience developing sustainability strategies with organizations.
Would be an asset:Â Â
- A master’s degree or higher in environmental science, natural resources, or related fieldÂ
- Experience in Community Development, IAP2, Engagement best practices and facilitation of groupsÂ
- Field expertise in performing and maintaining permitsÂ
