The Senior Project Manager position is integral to support this mission by facilitating the following competencies, skills, and activities:
Essential Functions (Key Accountabilities)
- Plan, organize, lead, and control the integration of all work packages, locations, and disciplines within the project effectively and efficiently.
- Provide project management leadership including technical direction, stakeholder management, communication plan, resources management and execution of overall client initiative with an integrated team approach.
- Completion of all project deliverables on schedule and budget as guided by the approved contract.
- Manage change in scope, schedule, risks, and costs against the project baseline.
- Monitor and interact with project controls and associated reporting. (Gathering and distributing project information to the project team)
- Interface with the client regarding project status updates and expectations on a regular basis.
- Follow safety, health, environmental and quality elements for the implementation of all components of the work.
- Identify and manages risk and opportunities during project execution phase.
- Develop and provide project status updates as well as budgetary information and remediation plans where necessary.
- Develop and coordinate overall project closeout.
- Coordinate client meetings involving team members as appropriate.
- Account and stakeholder management maximizing business opportunities within client accounts.
- Build on established relationships with key clients, by meeting or exceeding expectations on quality, schedule, and budget.
- Manage the Client’s expectations of the project in a clear manner with an understanding of the Client’s needs.
- Understanding the aims of the client in undertaking the project. Trying to identify next steps or other projects that would help achieve these aims. Develop proposals to help Clients reach their goals around this subject.
Required Certifications and/or Documentation:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental sciences
- 5-10 years project management experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
Expected Skills and Attributes:
- Proven understanding of projects controls systems, and cost control practices.
- Leadership of project teams from various disciplines.
- Experience in understanding, creating, and maintaining schedules.
- Experience in procurement process, cost estimating, execution planning, and support is an asset.
- Ability to handle multiple small projects concurrently in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to work sites and client offices.
Working Conditions:
The job will be performed in general office setting with potential for some support for events, conferences and meetings held off site.
