Borehole EM (BHEM) takes the above ground EM methods above and puts them right next to targets below ground. It expands the investigation area to the area around your drillhole. It used a combination of a below ground probe as the receiver and an above ground loop as the signal transmission source.
Common applications include:
- Detect off-hole features not intersected by drilling
- Map target geometry and dip
- Drill core intercept follow-up or to help model ambiguous ground geophysical results
